Casks & Flights Wine Tasting Room is a new wine bar that opened in July in downtown Pensacola, FL.
Inside the 1,770-square-foot space at 121 Palafox Place is a wine tasting room and lounge, which boasts eight Enomatic. Seven Enoline ELITE 8-Bottle and an Enoround 16-Bottle are the main attractions in the bar. You will also find a frozen wine machine and fermenting tanks behind the bar, where Casks & Flights brews its own mead.
The 72 wines-by-the-glass are available across the eight Enomatic which are self-serve units: guests receive a wine card, which is used as a running tab or in a pre-paid amount option. They can then browsed their selection, held in their Enomatic wine dispensers that keep each wine at its optimal temperature and preserve the organoleptic properties of the wines for more than 30 days (taste, color, body and aromas).
The system offers a choice between a 1-ounce taster, a half-glass pour or a full-glass pour. It allows them to pay a smaller amount to try a wine before indulging on a whole glass, or they can try several different tastes and discover new flavors. There are options at every price point, from budget conscious to indulgent.
Co-owners John Wilson and John McCorvey say that they’re “the only place for 400 miles where you can spend a couple bucks for a taste rather than more for a glass. You can try wine on a better budget. It’s great for people who don’t want to commit to a flavor and want to try a taste rather than a glass”. They are also partnering with local businesses, it is a major focus of Casks & Flights. Wilson and McCorvey’s venture is teaming up with local brewers to serve craft beers.
Wilson hopes Casks & Flights unique approach to serving wine draws customers back again and again.
“With our business, our biggest goal is to completely revolutionize the industry. Our biggest objective is to create a different experience every time. It is an art to make our products, but it is also an art to serve and retail it,” he said.
